Are you a fan of delicious flavor? One of my favorite shows is 'Psych' it is a detective comedy, a must see. I might do a TV show review for it later, so I won't go into detail. :) Last year I was super into making cake pops, I made some pineapple ones in honor of psych, so I decided to make a tutorial! Now, even if you are not a fan of Psych or just have never seen it, these are a wonderful dessert! Sorry in advance that I don't have pictures of the steps, next time I use this recipe I will make sure to update the post :) Enjoy!

Lets start with the ingredients: Cake mix (whatever flavor you prefer)
Eggs, oil, water (to make the mix) size depends on mix
Chocolate melts in preferably yellow, but white will do
Sprinkles (Yellow)
Frosting (again whatever you like)
Brown frosting (optional)
And now onto the tools: Toothpicks
Green paper
Scissors
Cookie sheet
Wax paper
large bowl
Plastic gloves (optional)
Mini ice cream scoop
Cake pop sticks (not expensive at all, you can find them at your local Dollar Tree)
You need access to a oven, freezer and a microwave or stove top. If you aren't over 18 make sure an adult knows you are using the kitchen, and you might need help with the stove top, at least I did....I could burn water... :P
Okay. Lets begin by making the cake mix, follow the directions on the box and add needed ingredients. Once the cake is baked let it cool, then get a spatula or spoon and break the cake and put it into the bowl. Make sure you wash your hands before you mix the cake!!!
Make sure the cake is a complete mess of crumbs with no big chunks. Now we are going to add the frosting, now this is the part that I failed at the first time I made cake pops, when adding the frosting you don't need that much! The cake is already moist, I have found that one or two spoonfuls is enough..Light on the frosting! Now use your thoroughly washed hands (or plastic gloves) to mold the cake mixture into little balls.
The balls should be no bigger then a golf ball. As soon as all of it is in balls, melt the chocolate. I would suggest melting the chocolate in a tall and skinny cup, that way it is easier to dip.
Once your chocolate is melted then dip the cake pop sticks in, then put them in the cake balls. Now you should have a cake ball with a cake pop stick sticking out of it, the chocolate you dipped it in was only to help hold it in place. Now we are going to put them on a cookie sheet with wax paper in the freezer for twenty minutes.
Now we have our hardened pops! Now it is time for the last layer, get the chocolate back out and dip the whole cake pop inside. When you pull it out put it stick side up so the pineapple will be able to stand.
Now you have to choose what themed pineapple you want, the ones I did where white chocolate with yellow sprinkles, so if you wanted to do it this way then right after you dip them pour the sprinkled on before it dries.
Then it will just look like a spiky yellow ball (Sorry I don't have any pictures)
So to make look like a pineapple you can cut out some leaf shaped paper and glue/tape it onto a toothpick.
Then you will have your own cake toppers. This was what I did in a time crunch, but another way to decorate your pineapple cake pops is to get yellow chocolate melts and then when you dip them let them dry so you have a plain yellow ball. Then once completely hardened use some brown icing and make diamonds to replicate the pineapples texture. (As shown in picture above)
To go a step further to make the whole thing edible, get some green chocolate melts and melt the chocolate. Once its melted put it in a icing bag, then draw out the leaf pattern, then you may need some frosting to hold it on.
You can choose whatever style you want if your more in the mood for a simple or creative recipe!
I hope you enjoyed my tutorial, sorry if I was confusing. Let me know if you have any questions and how they turned out for you!
